Breaking: The Los Angeles Clippers are trading James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Darius Garland and a second-round pick, sources tell @ShamsCharania.
If this is true and Haslam went against everyone’s recommendation on who to hire, it makes this hire even more concerning. Why is Jimmy keeping Berry in place? Jimmy needs to let football people make football decisions.
"This indicates that Haslam was never comfortable with Shceelhaase and he went against the recommendation of his search committee leader and GM," - @TonyGrossi on the Browns hiring Todd Monken.
So, the Browns Front Office pigeon holed themselves into this group of candidates who in theory were the only ones open to keeping Schwartz on their new staff just to bungle the entire thing, lose Schwartz and hire the wrong guy? Nothing about this search has made sense.
An issue that came up during the #Browns search was that some candidates wanted to bring in their own staff altogether. The idea of getting “married” to Jim Schwartz as DC wasn’t for everyone — regardless of how great he has been.
It also worked the other way around: it was unclear whether Schwartz would want to remain DC with some of the HC candidates Cleveland brought in.
The situation was complex.
After the Browns informed DC Jim Schwartz this morning they were passing him over to hire Todd Monken as head coach, Schwartz was visibly upset, said goodbyes in the building and told other coaches he’s not coming back, sources tell The Insiders.
Schwartz is under contract and Cleveland wants to retain him. But his future is now unclear.
This guy over Schwartz? Stefanski was miles better than this… Monken couldn’t figure out how to run the ball with Derrick Henry…🤦🏻♂️ Browns are going to Browns

We went from a two-time coach of the year (who was among the first to get rehired) to personality tests, candidates pulling their names out of the mix and a jumbled mess. Dysfunction may not be stronger anywhere else outside Berea. But hey, everyone got their wish of firing Kevin
Sources: Kevin Stefanski is out as the Browns head coach.
After moving on from Cleveland, Stefanski now is expected to be one of the top candidates in this hiring cycle.
2x Coach of the Year (their best since they returned) or the $230 million bum who can’t stay healthy or drama free?
Take the rest of your guaranteed money and go find a new coach with a different team. Guy has set the organization back since he arrived. Take Haslam with you.
