Over the last 2 years, THIS👇🏻 has become my preferred edition (and iteration) of D&D to run and play. Original 1970s Dungeons & Dragons is perfect for my tastes and combines what I love from the “Basic” D&D line (mainly B/X) and AD&D into a beautiful, simple, yet deep RPG experience that facilitates emergent, long-term D&D campaign play better than anything since then. In this evening’s session of Castles & Crusades, the party set up their new home base and explored some of the local woods. They encountered some korreds with whom they will be setting up a liquor trade in exchange for information and guiding. They also fought off an ambush from a group of needlers (nasty creatures). Since real life work is cranking (thankfully), I really need to focus my RPG time on just very few systems, campaigns, and design projects. That basically means that “OSR” type D&D is gonna see the vast bulk of my time & energy for a while…and mainly OD&D/Swords & Wizardry and Castles & Crusades/AD&D. That’s not to say classic RuneQuest and Pendragon won’t see the table more (they will), but I’ve got to prioritize my time and my biggest passion is in classic D&D (plain & simple). #DnD #ttrpg

One of the great joys of the last 8 months has been reengaging with my Catholic faith. And it’s not just reengaging with it, I’ve deepened my appreciation and understanding of it…embracing it fully and working to live it day-to-day. It is making me a better and more well-balanced person (and specifically a better husband, father, son, brother, and friend). It goes beyond going to weekly mass, it’s diving into the scriptures, the teachings, the philosophy, the Catechism, the history, the saints, the culture of apologetics and the greater community of Catholics. Joy in the grace of God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Catholic Church. ✝️⛪️

If you want to make a game, make the game you want to play. Focusing on $$$ means two things: 1. You are going to make something you probably don't like. 2. The make money path = compete with everyone on that path. Being weird = low competition.
