Tomi Adeyemi was inspired by ceramic tiles of the Orisha in a Brazil gift shop where she went to hide from the pouring rain. She saw how it showed her that she didn't just belong in her imagination, but to the sacred powers.

An audience member asked Adeyemi what is something we should know about her new book "The Siren". Tomi Adeyemi responded saying, "With Children of Blood and Bone you knew me as girl, but with The Siren, you know me as a woman."

Chauncey Brown stated there are some 17 year olds who are taking care of home and that trust is built through relationship, resource, and opportunity. We need to work to pursue better opportunities for our youth.

Public commenter mentioned there is a cultural difference that is happening with this vote to add 17 year olds to the juvenile curfew. There are other solutions than a curfew. This can be a messy situation and there is better solution to talk about these things.
