Christopher Gwinn of the @GettysburgNMP did a fantastic job leading a group of History teachers attending the @Gilder_Lehrman Teacher Symposium on Pickett’s Charge this morning. We all left with more knowledge about the site and the American Civil War.
Today was “Sports Day” at @sacredheartsf Summer Program so we learned about the history of the @SFGiants before heading out to play our own game! Some of these students are ready to go pro with all of the home runs that were hit today. #SanFranciscoHistory#SummerCamp
Last week, @sacredheartsf summer campers learned how public art can be used to share culture & history. Today, the students are sharing their own murals w/the community using chalk. "Riley the Cool" drew a rat to represent the Year of the Rat and spaghetti because "I love pasta!"
We added modern landmarks to archival maps of San Francisco today! Rising 5th and 6th grade @sacredheartsf students learned how to read maps, analyze continuity and change, and use their creativity! We’re excited to see what the rest of Summer Camp holds in store!
Today one of my @sacredheartsf 8th grade students just told me that she made a connection between what we recently learned in history (Gilded Age) to @taylorswift13 song (The Last Great American Dynasty) and I feel like I’ve peaked as a teacher now. #HistoryTeacher
Sunny days in SF mean outdoor class time! The @sacredheartsf 8th graders are working on their essays about the Progressive Era while sitting on the steps of a historic building. The Flood Mansion was completed in time for the 1915 World’s Fair. #SanFranciscoHistory#FloodMansion
A sunny break in this atmospheric river we’re experiencing in San Francisco hit me with the best view of @sacredheartsf!
Featuring my sign that did not come with enough Ss so we had to improvise. 😂
Today for @sacredheartsf Grandparents’ and Special Friends Day, the 8th graders were able to interview their guests on an event in American history that they experienced.
I’m home from an amazing week with @sacredheartsf Sophomores during their service trip to Costa Rica. We had a loaded week full of new friendships, building a global community, and trying new things! Pura vida!
My @sacredheartsf CES 8th grade home room worked on @WeAreRSCJ Goal 4 (building community) today by putting up a tree and making some decorations. We danced and sang to Christmas songs. It was a great morning.
