Ukraine blames the Germans for the massacre of Poles at Huta Pieniacka.
In reality, the massacre at Huta Pieniacka was committed by the Ukrainians from SS Galizein, UPA, and Ukrainian peasants.
The victims were primarily women, children, and the elderly. Estimates of the number murdered range from 850 to as many as 1,100.

,,On February 28, 1944, Huta Peniacka fell victim to an armed attack. According to archival sources, the attack on the village was carried out by a German police unit. A significant portion of Huta Peniacka's residents tragically perished, and the village itself was burned to the ground. The exact number of residents who fell victim to the tragedy in February 1944 is unknown. After the destruction, Huta Peniacka was not rebuilt" - Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance.
