More than 3,700 primary school children aged between 6 – 8 from 45 schools in underprivileged rural and urban areas across England and Scotland were surveyed on a range of age-appropriate money-related questions including money management, financial aspirations and goals.

Β· Across the board they gave low responses in terms of thinking about value for money (25%), or first establishing if they could wait or needed the item now (30%), with 14% saying they’d just buy it.
