In 1999, Stephen Abas went 37-1 and defeated Penn State’s Jeremy Hunter 7-4 in State College to win the NCAA title at 125 lbs. Abas became Fresno State’s first wrestling national champion since 1968. It was the first of three NCAA titles for the future Olympic silver medalist.
