This is why civics is critical as a course. This means educators have to be allowed to teach civics AND history!
Why hasn't Kamala Harris already done as VP what she's promising to do as president? Here's your answer motherfuckers. šŸ™ŒšŸ™šŸ‘šŸ‘ŠšŸŒŠšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

Most of the math stuff y'all get from @TPT_Official (Teachers Pay Teachers) is not standards aligned and definitely doesn’t align with your core curriculum materials. Save your time and use vetted materials.

Looking for a new podcast? Try "Rejecting Extremism," an interview with a school board member who ran to rid schools of porn and indoctrination only to find there WAS no porn and indoctrination. What happened next is both instructive and inspiring. democracy-education.org/podc…

When you KNOW the truth!
FYI, Pythagoras didn't ā€œdiscoverā€ the theorem. He studied in Kemet and learned the Right Triangle Theorem there. It was developed thousands of years before Pythagoras even existed. #mtbos

Please read this entire post.
I finally read the Project 2025's proposals for education. It's easy enough to say "abolish the department of education." I mean, who outside of Washington actually cares about how the federal government organizes its education programs? But what you might care about is that

ED-JOY: Oh the delight that filled my heart when I received my personal copy today!!! One of my dreams is to one day be an author of professional texts that equip and inspire educators to advance student learning. Well, today, IĀ celebrate my FIRST entry into The Reading League Journal. In this piece, I highlight the importance of Oral Language, Vocabulary, and Background Knowledge in advancing student achievement in our MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS!!! My favorite quote from this piece (yes, I can celebrate ME lol): ā€œWe must not create a learning environment that inhibits the use of students’ home language but rather engages students in learning activities in which they see the connection between their language and the new language. It is through determining the distinct features between the two languages that students internalize critical aspects of the new language.ā€

It’s a myth that the folks who refuse to use the provided curriculum materials are the master teachers whose teaching would be tainted if they were forced to use a script. In my experience it’s the TPT folks who don’t want to be bothered with teaching anything systematically.

This is what misplaced compassion looks like.
Adult expectations for some children are lower because of class, trauma, race, family. It must be the opposite. Children can, must, and need to be fully literate... ESPECIALLY if their road is tough; they must have skills, focus, and grit. Don't just feel for them. Teach them.
