My path in life started as a student who believed education could change everything. That belief is why I'm running for Superintendent of Public Instruction — and it's what my first campaign ad is all about.

While the results in the SPI race are disappointing, I leave this campaign hopeful for the future. It’s been inspiring to meet people over the course of this campaign who are deeply devoted to public education and the well-being of our children. That passion and commitment should give all of us hope for California's future.

Looking ahead to November, I am proudly endorsing Richard Barrera for SPI. Richard is qualified, shares my values, and has spent his career fighting for public education. He is the candidate who will stand up to and defeat the dangerous, extremist ideology of Sonja Shaw. The stakes in November could not be higher, and I will work hard to make sure Richard has the support he needs to win.

The shooting today at the Islamic Center of San Diego is tragic and appalling. There is no place in our society for gun violence — especially at a school and place of worship. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Muslim community in San Diego. nbcsandiego.com/news/local/s…

Rendon’s first campaign ad for SPI — part of a high six-figures cable and digital buy — will debut tonight during CNN’s gubernatorial debate.

The Superintendent of Public Instruction has long been an underutilized position. I'm running to bring tested leadership to build a cradle-to-career education system, tackle the youth mental health crisis, and defend our schools from Trump's dangerous agenda. edsource.org/2026/anthony-re…

Notable in this PPIC poll: @RendonAnthony is the only candidate with double-digit support among Dem voters (15%) — suggesting his ballot designation and message resonate most with Ds likely to turn out in the primary.
🆕 #PPICsurvey: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ may be the best way to describe likely voters’ feelings about the race for state superintendent of public instruction. None of the 10 candidates has 10% support from likely voters, while 32% are undecided. Full report ➡️ bit.ly/4sxQ8h2

How we deal with screen time and technology in the classroom is one of the biggest challenges for future of education in California. I'm running for Superintendent of Public Instruction to tackle these hard issues and work with educators, parents, and all stakeholders to ensure technology doesn't come at the expense of kids' learning. latimes.com/california/story…

Getting results for working people, their kids, and their families is why I first got into public service, and it's why I'm running to lead California's schools. I'm grateful to @CaliforniaLabor for its support in my campaign for Superintendent of Public Instruction.

The future of education in California requires modernizing school facilities to create safe and inspiring learning environments for our students. I'm thrilled to work with IBEW to invest in a skilled and trained workforce that brings these projects to life, bolster vocational education and apprenticeship opportunities, and make sure young people have the skills and training necessary for high-demand jobs.

Our firefighters put their lives on the line to protect all of us. I'm grateful to @CAFirefighters for their endorsement, and am committed to California's public schools being equipped to train the next generation of firefighters our state depends on.

Appreciate the support and kind words from House Democratic Caucus Chair @PeteAguilar, one of California's fiercest champions in Congress: "Every day in Congress, I see how Donald Trump is weaponizing the federal government to target California, our students, and our hardworking educators. California needs a strong, tested leader to protect our schools and rally like-minded people from across the country to push back against these attacks. I worked closely with Anthony Rendon during his time as Assembly Speaker on numerous efforts to ensure Washington supports California, and I'm confident he's the best person to guide our schools through an uncertain future.”

Let me be very clear: ICE should have no place in our schools. The inhumanity of this Administration — targeting kids who are just trying to learn — knows no bounds. youtube.com/watch?v=tODuaarq…
