In my ten years in the U.S. House of Representatives, I have consistently used my vote to oppose the reckless spending practices that have become all too common in Washington. Tonight, we once again found ourselves voting on a temporary spending bill just before Christmas—one that merely delays the inevitable until March. I voted NO because we had ample time to pass individual, focused spending bills, yet chose not to. I cannot, in good conscience, continue supporting a cycle of failure that is damaging to the American people.

Tonight, I voted against the temporary spending measure, known as a continuing resolution, for several critical reasons. First and foremost, we were forced to vote on this bill less than three hours after its announcement, blatantly violating the rule that gives us 72 hours to read and fully review legislation. Furthermore, this continuing resolution further adds to our already unsustainable $36 trillion national debt. We could do a better job making budget cuts and move towards a balanced budget.

I agree with @elonmusk that passing terrible continuing resolutions with more debt and liberal Democrat votes is no way to spend hardworking American taxpayer dollars. The House has already passed 5 single subject spending bills, including important defense spending. The Senate should immediately take up defense appropriations while the House needs to pass the remaining 7 bills now. This is the only real way to fund YOUR government. @DOGE @VivekGRamaswamy
