TURDUCKEN: “This proposal is a turducken, because it is a turkey, that was put together by a bunch of lame ducks by a Republican legislature that is too chicken to confront the structural affordability…” says @RepAndraca during Wisconsin tax rebate/school funding debate.

Looking back on last week’s floor session, I am immensely proud of all that we did to pass Gail’s Law and postpartum medicaid expansion. Years of persistent advocacy resulted in securing these wins for women and families.

The Stewardship Fund is an important, popular program. Unfortunately, Senate Republicans made our Democratic bill to save this program WORSE. Peter Burress from Conservation Voters: “Thank you to Wisconsin Democrats for standing up to Republican efforts to weaken this program.”

Wisconsin Assembly Democrats tried to take steps to pull a bill out of committee today that would expand postpartum Medicaid coverage for a year after a child is born, but Republicans blocked it. The bill has bipartisan support, but Assembly Speaker @repvos⁩ opposes it

Authors note many #Wisconsin residents live in #multifamily homes 🏘 that don’t have modern #fire 🔥 safety features and say their bill “acknowledges the significant cost to property owners” for installations would help prevent 💰 costs being passed on. wisbusiness.com/2025/dem-bil…

WI Republicans are trying to make our gun violence problem worse. Hundreds of Wisconsinites die to gun violence every year - peaking at 818 in 2022. Large majorities have consistently supported common-sense gun reforms like universal background checks, red flag laws, & more.

Yesterday, @RepAndraca and I introduced a bill that would disclose the cost of the voucher program on property owners’ tax bills. All of us are paying for voucher school program. And you should have the right to know how much it costs you. youtube.com/shorts/lFcY9q1Qt… #Wisconsin

Violence against anyone because of their political beliefs is wrong. Violence against others is wrong. Violence is never the answer for resolving our differences or disagreements. Wisconsin joins in praying for Charlie Kirk and the Utah Valley community and first responders.

Republican budget cuts are going to close two facilities that help veterans experiencing homelessness get back into permanent housing. Democrats have a bill to keep them open. Republicans have refused to even hold a hearing on the bill. Without funding, they'll close Sept. 30.

We know there are measures Wisconsin can take that can reduce - not eliminate - gun violence. The bills are in committee. Can we agree to hold a public hearing on them? Republicans have the majority, so vote them down if you disagree with a majority of Wisconsinites. 1/5
We HAVE discussed this. And you & I both know none of these laws would have prevented yesterdays tragedy. Because like when we discussed four years ago, it didn't prevent the tragedy in that state, either. And I do know better than to politicize a tragedy. You apparently don't.

We may not prevent every future school shooting, but we CAN prevent some - maybe one at an elementary school near you - but ONLY if more elected leaders can find their backbone that's gone missing for so long. 5/5
