Today is not just a day off work, a day of bargain shopping, or simply another federal holiday. It’s far more than that. It’s a day to remember. Only three Americans have had a day specifically named for them, and one of them is today…a day set aside to remember one of the most influential men, not only in the Civil Rights movement, but also in American History, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His leadership resulted in African Americans, and those of all races, having an equal opportunity to pursue the American Dream on their own terms.   I’m thankful for great leaders like Dr. King who had the courage to fight for what is right, even though it certainly wasn’t the easy thing to do in those days. Though his life was cut short, his legacy lives on today and continues to inspire Americans from all walks of life. Let’s remember the lasting legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today.

Christmas is a very special time. I still remember some of my favorite Christmas mornings from my childhood. I’m sure the same goes for so many of you. So, from my family to yours, Merry Christmas. It is my hope and prayer that we never forget the real meaning of Christmas. Today is a time for being with family, loved ones, and friends, and celebrating God's gift to mankind.

Today I voted to continue the inquiry into the business dealings of the Biden family, because I believe we need to continue the debate and collecting the facts so that the American people can come to their own conclusion. This vote did not bring any formal charges against the President; rather, it authorizes the continuation of current existing House committee investigations into whether sufficient grounds exist for impeachment. I believe there is enough credible evidence to continue these preliminary investigations. If the White House was being cooperative, instead of continuing to stonewall and throw up roadblocks, today’s vote would not have been necessary.

Happy Birthday to the @USNationalGuard ! Established in 1636, the National Guard has been serving America whenever duty calls. The hard work and selfless service of these citizen-soldiers is an inspiration to us all – they have always lived up to their motto: “Always ready, always there.” Thank you to these brave men and women - and keep up your important work!

Happy Hanukkah to all of our Jewish neighbors and friends who celebrate!

“December 7th, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy…” – President Franklin Roosevelt.      The attack on Pearl Harbor serves as a constant reminder that the world is a dangerous place, requiring America to be strong and vigilant EVERY day.  And 82 years later, there is no shortage of hostile nations and terrorist groups that seek to do our great nation harm.  I hope every American will take a moment today to reflect on the 2,403 Americans who were killed that day, and all those - and there were many - who heroically answered the call to serve in our nation’s armed forces in the days following the attack. The freedoms Americans cherish are as fragile today as they were in 1941, and they should never be taken for granted. God Bless those brave warriors from that Greatest Generation who put it all on the line to rid the world of tyranny and defend our freedoms and the freedoms of millions around the world…only a few are still with us today. Let’s never forget their sacrifices.

I took to the House floor today in support of H.R. 4468, the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act to advocate for its passage. America’s economy functions at its best when we put innovation, free enterprise, and consumer choice above all else…and it’s what made America a leader in the automotive sector. Now – key decision makers have forgotten that, and are pushing a rush to EV’s that the American people don’t want and that many can’t afford. Watch some of my remarks below ⬇️

I am deeply concerned by the arrests of Tamils in the North-East of Sri Lanka under the Prevention of Terrorism Act during their peaceful commemorations over the past few days, as well as the numerous attempts by Sri Lankan police to obstruct and prevent Tamil memorialization. I encourage the Sri Lankan government to uphold the civil and human rights of all its citizens.

George Santos is leaving Congress in disgrace one way or the other very soon – either by being expelled, his term expiring, or possibly with a criminal conviction. He's violated the trust of those who elected him and refused to cooperate with the House Ethics investigation. It’s a shame that Rep. Santos has put those he represents on Long Island in this situation.

After much thought and prayerful deliberation, I have accepted the offer to lead Youngstown State University and will not be seeking an 8th term in Congress. As I’ve stated previously, I wasn’t looking for another job, because I love the one I have serving the people of Eastern Ohio in the U.S. House. This was an extremely difficult decision. This is not a goodbye, however. I will continue serving in the House for several more months, and you will see no let up. My offices are open and my staff remains ready to serve you. There is still much left on my agenda to do before I depart Congress, including doing all I can to help pass tax exemption legislation to benefit the people of East Palestine as well as a broader rail safety bill, streamline America’s LNG export process, and advance a responsible budget and spending package for the remainder of this fiscal year. It’s business as usual.
