Yesterday, ICE murdered an American citizen. The only way to prevent future horrors is to prosecute and ensure full accountability up the entire chain of command.

Mary contacted my office after struggling to receive any correspondence from the Internal Revenue Service regarding her late mother's tax return. After she reached out, my team worked directly with the IRS to resolve the issue and help secure her refund within two months. Navigating the loss of a loved one is difficult enough, and no one should have to face government bureaucracy and red tape on their own. Are you having trouble with a federal agency? Reach out to my office, we're ready to help.

Illinoisans have lost devastating sums of money to crypto-enabled fraud. Just last year, the FBI reported $333 million in losses due to crypto scams. That’s why I’ve introduced the bipartisan Stop Crypto ATM Scams Act to strengthen consumer protections, increase transparency, and help prevent fraudsters from exploiting vulnerable Americans.

nytimes.com/2026/06/09/us/po… Last night, I opposed the Republican plan to hand ICE $70 billion on top of the $140B they approved just last year. This money could have been used to: - Lower the cost of health care - Restore energy tax credits Republicans cut last year. - Fund the National School Lunch Program But for some reason, my Republican colleagues believe investing in the American people is wasteful.

Speaker Johnson made it clear what Republicans are targeting: Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. At the same time that he’s handing ICE with another $70 billion, Speaker Johnson wants to attack programs that actually help Americans.

Handling the financial affairs of a loved one after their passing is a necessary and important responsibility. So when a constituent in Chicago reached out to my office for help retrieving their relative’s income tax returns, our office stepped in. We helped guide them through the process of securing the decedent's final tax refund to get the case resolved and provide the family closure. Are you having trouble with a federal agency? Reach out to my office to see if we can help. casten.house.gov/services/he…

During his campaign, the president promised he would not drive the United States into a war. He said "years of chaos will be over." We are 102 days into his war with Iran. Now, all of a sudden, he claims he never made those promises.

Third time isn’t the charm for Congressional Republicans. They keep trying to pass a massive ICE funding bill that misses the mark. This bill does nothing to lower housing costs, energy bills, or healthcare expenses. Instead, it just hands more money to ICE. We only have about five legislative weeks left before the August recess. I want to vote on bills that actually help the American people with their everyday struggles. Sadly, my Republican colleagues feel otherwise. thehill.com/homenews/house/5…

Yesterday, I voted YES on a War Powers Resolution to end the reckless war in Iran. Article I of the Constitution is clear, Congress has the sole authority to declare war. It is time for Congress to reclaim its constitutional responsibility and bring an end to a conflict that has driven up costs and created uncertainty for American families.

NEWS: We succeeded in passing a resolution to end the war in Iran. The president started a war without a plan, clear endgame, legal justification, or congressional authorization. This is an important step in putting a stop to this recklessness. cbsnews.com/news/house-iran-…

I led a bipartisan effort with Rep. Fitzpatrick to support victims of sexual assault in public schools. Transparency in these investigations is essential to helping lawmakers evaluate how schools respond to sex-based discrimination.

As a member of Congress, I am proud to secure Community Project Funding for facilities in IL-06 that improve the day-to-day lives of constituents. In 2024, I advocated for UCP Seguin to receive federal dollars to update their facility. I recently visited UCP Seguin's community day site to continue to learn how Congress can better support the disability community and caregivers.

I was thrilled to return to Brookdale Lisle for an engaging conversation with residents. I shared an update on what’s happening in DC before opening the floor to a Q&A discussion. I am thankful to the residents for bringing such sharp insight and vital perspectives to the table.
