It was a pleasure to have leaders, employers, advocates, and local officials from Northeast Ohio together in Washington this week for the Greater Cleveland Elected Leadership Conference, hosted by @GreaterCLE.   Over the past couple of days, I have had the opportunity to meet with many of the attendees. We had important conversations regarding economic growth, workforce development, public safety, rural healthcare access, and protecting Lake Erie. I look forward to continuing our work together to strengthen our region and bring home practical solutions.

The bipartisan SAFE Sunscreen Standards Act, which I helped introduce and was signed into law late last year, is helping modernize how sunscreen ingredients are reviewed in the U.S. Yesterday, the FDA approved bemotrizinol — the first new sunscreen UV filter in over 20 years — to better protect Americans from harmful UV rays, just as we head into peak summer sun exposure. Since the 1990s, the U.S. has lagged behind European and Asian countries in approving modern sunscreen ingredients, limiting access to the most effective options. As a skin cancer survivor myself, I know how important better protection is, and I’ll keep working to ensure Americans safely benefit from these innovations faster. fda.gov/news-events/press-an…

The FY27 Agriculture Appropriations bill just passed the House, preliminarily securing $7.3 million for critical projects right here in OH-14. I will always fight to bring federal dollars back to Northeast Ohio.
