The US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement is incredibly important to Washington state. The federal government's foreign surveillance program needs to be reformed to protect both our national security & Americans’ civil liberties. We also cannot trust these intelligence powers in the hands of Bill Pulte, another Trump crony with no national security experience. There’s a bipartisan path forward if it includes warrant standards, limits on data collection, & competent national security leadership. Until then, I cannot vote to renew this program.

The latest inflation report shows what working families across the country have been feeling for months: prices are too high, budgets are squeezed, & paychecks don’t go as far. Trump's illegal tariffs & Congressional Republicans’ economic policies are directly increasing the price of groceries, housing, health care, & child care. Fuel oil is up nearly 60%, & gasoline prices have increased over 40% since last year because of Trump’s war with Iran. Trump has callously dismissed the struggles facing everyday families right now, saying last month that he doesn’t ‘think about Americans' financial situation.’ No matter how the White House tries to spin this, they can’t explain away the fact that too many families believe that America is unaffordable. House Democrats will continue to fight for policies that will help lower prices & support working families.

When workers unionize, they should be able to negotiate their contracts & receive their benefits as soon as possible. But companies  sometimes purposefully delay this process as another form of union busting.     Today, Democrats forced a successful vote on bipartisan legislation that would prevent these delays.

Republicans passed their latest budget. This bill does absolutely nothing to lower costs for families. Instead, it gives ICE another $70 billion with no strings attached & no reforms so they can continue terrorizing our communities.

Secretary Bessent is responsible for exposing the sensitive financial data of millions of Americans. I repeatedly asked him what steps he’s taken to stop this from ever happening again. The secretary could not give a clear answer.

The president can’t handle any degree of accountability. Instead of answering fair questions about his lies, his failed policies, & the blatant corruption in his administration, he threw a tantrum. The American people deserve better from our leaders.
