Natasha is within 4% of the incumbent, Mike Desmond. If you want to support an Alaskan Native, formerly incarcerated mother with tons of policy experience (who is endorsed by @TarraSimmons5 and @RepDrewHansen) go here and contribute: natashafornorthkitsap.com/
Just made this happen. Super proud of our endorsed candidates. More endorsements and approvals action during our September meeting. No meeting in August. Questions? Find the chair at chair@kitsapdemocrats.org
I got invited to the White House!
State leaders on reproductive rights—SUPER neat, though I think we’re actually not in the Big White House but rather in the somewhat-fancy-but-not-as-fancy building next door. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow but I got to play tourist tonight!
I’m grateful to my constituent @JayInslee for serving as Governor through very challenging times.
We’d still see him around the community as Governor (getting Christmas tree from the local place, etc.) so I hope this means he can spend more well-earned time with family/friends!
Governor signed the Shield Law today!
This protects people in Washington State from anti-abortion laws in Texas/elsewhere.
I started working on it last summer when we saw draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade…five million drafts & countless meetings later we’re done; it’s law!
come along with me as I dive into the D&D campaign run by student veterans who are processing their new lives as civilians and their old lives as soldiers one D20 roll at a time thestranger.com/play-date/20…
CONSTITUENT BOOK ALERT: New book by @ClaireDederer-“Monsters”-is lead review in weekend’s Wall Street Journal!
I have to like constituent books, it’s basically a rule (see also: why I supported Jay Inslee for President) but WSJ calls it “engaging” so it’s not just me; go buy!
If states like Texas want to be creative and aggressive about restricting abortion rights; Washington State will be creative and aggressive in fighting back.
That’s my Shield Law, now headed to the Governor! More here:

BREAKING: Washington State Senate just passed my Shield Law—protects people in Washington from the reach of anti-abortion laws in Texas/elsewhere—and we are OFF TO THE GOVERNOR!!!
Congrats to the doctors, lawyers, advocates, more who worked so hard on this; great win today!
BREAKING: Washington Library Association just gave me the “Lifetime Honorary Membership Award,” which goes to someone “who is not a library staff member by profession, and who has demonstrated consistent and prolonged support of library service in Washington.”

I am AMPED that my Shield Law—protects people in Washington State from the reach of anti-abortion laws in Texas and elsewhere—passed the Wash. House with bipartisan support today!

🗓️ Feb. 25, 2017: An instant classic.
@Kelseyplum10 breaks the NCAA all-time scoring record in a Senior Day win at home! She needed 54 points for the record going into that game, finishing with a @UW_WBB & #Pac12WBB single-game scoring record 57 points‼️

We had “State of the State” ceremonies in the Washington State Legislature today.
They introduced the honorary consul of Ukraine and the place went BERSERK. Everyone leapt to their feet: cheering, hollering, etc.

Here’s a New Year’s Resolution for you: subscribe to your local newspaper!
On my mind today as I read this amazing round-up of highlights from the Kitsap Sun. I know I am a dinosaur but I love getting it in print—my kids grab the comics and sports at breakfast; I read the rest.
It’s a great screen-free way to start the day.
Also it’s indispensable for public service…by far the best way to know what’s going on in the community. And totally fun too; this is how I learned about the new Go-Kart track in Bremerton!!
Anyways go subscribe; happy New Year!
