June marks Gun Violence Awareness Month. We have lost far too many innocent lives in acts of senseless violence, and I will always work in Congress to fight against the gun violence epidemic and pass commonsense legislation to keep our communities safe.

Ten years ago, 49 innocent lives were tragically taken in a senseless act of violence at the Pulse Night Club. LGBTQ people in CA-19 and across the country are our friends, family members, and neighbors. They should be able to live without the fear of being attacked for who they are or who they love. I will continue to fight in Congress to protect our LGBTQ neighbors and stop the scourge of gun violence across our nation.

The Republican Majority passed a $70 billion immigration enforcement bill that funds ICE and CBP without any commonsense reforms or accountability measures. I voted against the bill, and will continue to push back on this Administration’s overreaching mass deportation policy to ensure our immigration system reflects our values and reinforces our security.

Inflation is up to 4.2%, the highest in three years, as prices for food, fuel, and basic necessities continue to rise for working families across the country. That’s why I will keep fighting to pass my Stop Global Tariffs Act and No Funds for Iran War Act so that Congress can reclaim its authority over trade and the Iran War and we can drive down costs for working families. wsj.com/economy/cpi-inflatio…

Over the past year, working families across California’s 19th Congressional District have felt the strain of rising prices due to this Administration’s senseless tariff policy and the unauthorized war in Iran. That’s why I questioned Secretary Bessent on how these policies are driving up the costs of food, fuel, and everyday essentials. I’ll continue to fight in Congress to lower costs for working families in CA-19 and across the country.

While costs continue to rise for working families across the country, the President is instead still focused on preserving his slush fund for his political allies and January 6th rioters who attacked police officers. That’s why I support the Bipartisan Transparency for American Taxpayers Act to ensure taxpayer dollars serve the people, not the President and his cronies. politico.com/news/2026/06/07…

Despite the Supreme Court striking down the destructive across-the-board tariffs under IEEPA, this Administration is trying to prevent relief from going out to those who have been harmed. The best form of long-term relief is for Congress to reassert its authority to permanently stop illegal global tariffs. We can start by passing my Reclaim Trade Powers Act to protect our economy from senseless tariffs, rein in unilateral executive trade decisions, and restore Congress’s rightful control over trade. politico.com/news/2026/06/09…

I voted against the Republican Majority’s reconciliation bill that would provide an additional $70 billion to ICE and CBP. Unfortunately, the purely partisan bill did not contain any commonsensical law enforcement reforms to rein in these two agencies and protect our communities. Last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act already funded ICE and CBP with an unprecedented $140 billion, which led to rushed, barely vetted recruits and improperly trained agents being pushed into our communities. As ICE and CBP target immigrants well beyond gang members and felons, they continue to create chaos and confusion in many of our communities. I support a strong and secure border, but I will not support giving a blank check to agencies that fail to uphold and implement basic principles and standards of law enforcement. Although this partisan bill passed out of the House of Representatives and heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law, I will continue to push back on this Administration’s mass deportation policy. At the same time, I will continue my work in Congress on immigration reform legislation so that Congress can create an immigration system that reflects our constitutional values, protects vulnerable, law-abiding immigrants, enhances our economy, and provides safety to American communities.

I voted against the Majority's $70 billion reconciliation legislation to fund ICE and CBP. Without any meaningful and commonsensical law enforcement reforms of these two agencies, I will not support funding ICE and CBP.

H-1B recipients in CA-19 and across the country care for our loved ones, educate the next generation, and fuel our innovation economy. Glad the courts are continuing to serve as a bulwark against this Administration’s senseless $100,000 H-1B visa fee, so we can keep our high-skilled workers here, strengthen our economy, and protect our community. politico.com/news/2026/06/08…

100 days into the war in Iran, Americans are paying the price of this war at the pump, at the grocery store, and with the lives of our men and women in uniform. This Administration still has not provided the American people with a strategic plan or definition of victory, and I will continue to push back and reassert Congress’s constitutional authority and put an end to this war. cbsnews.com/live-updates/ira…
