For 115 days, Democrats refused to provide the funding needed to fully support the Department of Homeland Security. Today, Republicans in Congress sent legislation to President Trump’s desk to fully fund DHS.
At the end of April, Republicans acted to reopen the rest of DHS and prevent further disruption to the Department’s critical functions, like TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard.
We made clear then that we would fully fund Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to continue to secure the border, remove criminal illegal aliens, and restore the rule of law after four years of failed open-border policies.
While Democrat leadership continues to oppose any funding to enforce our immigration laws, today we ensured that the men and women on the front lines have the funding and tools they need to protect the American people.
