In 2023, I was proud to cosponsor the National Alzheimer’s Reauthorization Law, which extended the federal research funding for Alzheimer’s treatments through 2035. Over 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s—we have to keep fighting for them and their families.

New reporting shows the Trump Administration turned the Situation Room into an “Epstein war room.”
The Situation Room is meant for national security matters, not pedophile coverups.

Over 92,000 Illinoisans have lost or could not afford their Affordable Care Act health insurance since they signed up this January. This is a direct result of Republicans in Congress refusing to work with Democrats and extend Affordable Care Act health plan subsidies this year.

10 years ago today, 49 people were killed and 53 more gravely injured in a shooting at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. This act of domestic terrorism was a hate crime targeting LGBTQI Latino Americans.

The United States has the safest elections in the world, so much so that voter 'fraud' is virtually nonexistent. Even the Heritage Foundation admitted that there have been JUST 99 cases of noncitizen voting in every election combined since 2000.
Forcing states to hand over their lists of voters in exchange for mail ballots is voter suppression. Trump is trying to steal the midterm election in plain sight.

Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in standing in solidarity with @ChiPubSchools students, teachers, and parents.
Instead of supporting our students, Republicans on the Education and Workforce Committee dragged CPS Superintendent Dr. Macquline King to Washington for a pointless hearing.
Our schools should be safe havens for all kids, no matter their identity. We should trust our educators to support students and back schools teaching evidence-based curriculum.

Yesterday, I met with Riya Narepalem and John Ciok—our newest Congressional Award Gold Medalists.
The Congressional Award Gold Medal is the highest award Congress can bestow on a civilian American youth. Requirements include physical fitness, personal development, and over 400 hours of extraordinary community service. John spent these hours raising awareness for blood cancer, while Riya volunteered for at a hospital and an animal shelter.

This afternoon, I'm going to vote against the DHS funding bill. House Republicans want to give ICE and CBP an extra $70 BILLION for the next year, without implementing any commonsense reforms like body cameras.
Congress already funded #ICE and CBP for the next six years. We can not give them an unlimited budget when there's an administration unwilling to limit their conduct.
