Today, we marked 20 years since the passage of Timothy’s Law, one of the first mental health parity laws in our nation.
We named the law in honor of Timothy O’Clair who, at just 12 years old, died by suicide because insurance companies refused to cover the mental health care he needed.
Mental health requires care, just the same as physical health. That fact remains as true today as 2 decades ago. I'm still in the fight to make certain no one is denied mental health treatment because of profits and corporate greed.
