Tonight FISA 702-our nation's most critical national security authority-will expire because Senate Democrats are playing politics with the safety and security of Americans. The House passed a sensible reform and 3-year reauthorization bill on April 29th, which is waiting for Senate action. There is no excuse for Senate Democrats' complete abdication of their Constitutional responsibility to protect Americans.

I commend the intelligence community for retracting their 2023 report “Assessment of Anomalous Health Incidents.” This report mischaracterized the NIH study on anomalous health incidents (AHIs). Our research was not complete at the time of this report.  Nor was our study designed to determine whether a foreign adversary or external mechanism caused these health effects. Findings that individuals may have been coerced by persons outside of NIH into participating in our study are deeply troubling and may represent a serious breach of ethical and human subject protections. NIH research must always be voluntary and informed without exception. Those affected by AHIs have suffered greatly. The complexity of the brain means some effects may not be apparent using current technology, underscoring the need for continued scientific study and transparency. We will work in good faith with Congress to ensure accountability, integrity, and care for those harmed. @RepRickCrawford
This is huge news for the AHI victim community, analytic integrity, and for the American people. These flawed, fraudulent, and manufactured Intelligence Community Assessments (ICA) have caused significant harm to some of our nation’s bravest. ICAs carry a great deal of weight, particularly when declassified as part of a public messaging effort, as was done with the AHI ICA. The assessment was deliberately manufactured and used to discredit some of our nation’s bravest and impede their access to medical care. As was the case with other high-visibility intelligence assessments, it fell far short of analytic integrity standards. Today’s action by @DNIGabbard is a glimmer of hope for our nation’s intelligence officers, service members, and diplomats stationed around the world who have defended this country in austere locations and subsequently had the nation they served turn its back on them. Thank you to Director Gabbard for keeping her commitment to this Committee and me, and for her overall willingness to do the right thing. I am incredibly grateful.

Thank you to @HouseIntel for hosting the National Counterintelligence and Security Center to discuss the current state of U.S. counterintelligence. We appreciate the Committee’s engagement, expertise, and continued support in strengthening our nation’s counterintelligence enterprise and protecting America from evolving threats.

As possible bad actors, suspected terrorists and those seeking to do our nation harm, like this Somalia official, are trying to enter the U.S. for the World Cup this week, Democrats have decided it’s a good time to let the nation’s most critical national security authority—FISA 702— expire. espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/4…

Today, @SenJudiciaryGOP Chairman @ChuckGrassley and I introduced overdue, common-sense legislation to provide the Intelligence Community Inspector General with critical law enforcement authorities to more effectively carry out its oversight mission to identify fraud, waste, and mismanagement across the IC. The classified nature of the Intelligence Community's work presents significant obstacles to building the comprehensive cases the DOJ needs to act and can provide wrongdoers a false sense of security in their ability to skirt oversight. More on our legislation here: intelligence.house.gov/2026/…

To my Senate colleagues: STOP PLAYING POLITICS WITH 702. Getting this right to protect America from foreign spies, cyber saboteurs, and global terrorists while tightening protections against abuses is one of the most important RESPONSIBILITIES we have as a Congress. Whatever you think of the President’s personnel decisions, the Director of National Intelligence - acting or confirmed - doesn’t even use 702. This is the wrong fight at the wrong time. Pass the bill and get this done!

This evening I voted against The Ukraine Support Act. While I am supportive of lethal aid so the Ukrainian people can defend themselves and put an end to this war, this legislation ties President Trump’s hands in navigating the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. More importantly it does not account for the current state of play in the conflict as it was introduced over a year ago. The failure to bring this up through regular order, prevented the House from being able to amend and debate the bill. The bottom line: no one is winning this war and no side is in a more advantageous position than they were 5 years ago when this began. Ukrainians need access to the tools to defend their country and this bill does not do that.

Democrats' refusal to support the nation's most critical security authority because they don't approve of the President's pick for the Acting DNI is playing games with U.S. national security. Both reckless and irresponsible.

This is a prudent step toward understanding the capabilities, opportunities, and risks of frontier AI models. I commend @POTUS for recognizing the critical role AI plays in national security, economics, and critical infrastructure. To that end, we are pleased the @NSAGov has been tasked to play a leading role in collaborating with frontier labs, evaluating models, and promoting the cybersecurity of our nation. It’s my hope that @POTUS will continue driving the executive branch towards smart AI policies that maintain the U.S. advantage over China. Going forward, we must take a careful look at China’s access to American compute and partner semiconductor manufacturing equipment and consider opportunities to cut down on China’s illicit access to this technology. whitehouse.gov/presidential-…

Happy National Rotisserie Chicken Day! There’s nothing better than a hot rotisserie chicken fresh off the spit. Arkansas poultry farmers and processors produce some of the highest quality meat, and I’m proud to support them. I fought hard in the 2026 Farm Bill to make hot rotisserie chicken SNAP eligible so more families can put this excellent protein source on their tables. I’ll be releasing a short video in the coming weeks with some easy recipe ideas using rotisserie chicken! #RealAmericanPoultry

It was an honor to join Brig. Gen. Michael Henderson and Sgt. 1st Class Joe Shelby yesterday as we presented him with the Purple Heart Medal. Sgt. Shelby survived seven IED blasts during his time in Iraq, including a direct hit in 2007 that left his vehicle destroyed and inflicted lasting injuries. True sacrifice doesn’t fade. Yesterday’s recognition honors the price he and so many others have paid for our nation’s freedom. The Purple Heart is a powerful reminder that freedom isn’t free. Thank you for your exemplary service, Sgt. Shelby. Arkansas is proud of you.
