I testified recently before the #PaHouse Labor & Industry Committee about my legislation that would increase the amount of the worker compensation burial benefit granted to the surviving family of an employee in PA who suffers a fatal work injury.

The law should protect the dignity of grieving families who experience this tragedy, so I propose increasing this compensation from where it is now at only $7,000 to meet the actual burial cost in PA which averages $20,000.

A good starting point, now it's time for the legislature to get to work fine tuning the plan. I’ll be part of that process as a member of House Appropriations – our budget hearings with the leaders of each state agency, department, and commission begin at the end of February.
