Must be one of the hardest decisions to make…@JoeBiden puts the country first. Thank you, Mr. President for all the years of service and patriotism. May your legacy reflect the hard work and sacrifices.

"Do you think $150 is a sufficient amount for a family in need?" That's the question I asked about the tax bill from this latest special session. Thursday, the Republicans passed another income tax reduction -- a third in the past 13 months with a budget cost of $1.6 billion.

Most workers and families in Arkansas will receive just a one-time $150 tax credit. After I asked my question, a Republican Representative said he thought the $150 credit was “very significant.”

He later conceded that the estimated credit for the ultra wealthy, which will be to the tune of several thousand dollars annually, was “yeah, a big number difference.” We can do better than this one-time benefit for the majority of our workers and families.

This morning, I will vote "no" on both the still flawed FOIA law and the income tax revision. This special session was unnecessary from the start and has not produced legislation that helps build a brighter Arkansas for our families. #arkleg

Early clarification: My vote will not appear on the tally machine in the chamber, as I have paired it. But the in official journal tally, it will be importantly listed as a "no" on both bills.

It is discouraging to see the state continue to take a costly, dangerous, and ineffective path when it comes to public safety. But as long as my Democratic colleagues and I are in the Legislature, progress will continue to be made toward a safer, fairer, and brighter Arkansas.

In the wake of the continued gun related violence we see in Arkansas and across the nation, my colleagues and I introduced bills that would increase public safety that are supported by a large percentage of Arkansans — all were unfortunately rejected by the GOP supermajority.
