The budget passed—but not with my vote. I won’t support a Republican agenda built on cruelty and corruption—and that’s exactly what this budget was. I’ll keep fighting to protect and expand health care for every Delawarean and every American.

Small businesses are the backbone of Delaware’s economy and, right now, need support that can help them thrive. Whether it is by expanding access to capital, cutting through unfair barriers, or building an economy where support and opportunity is based on hard work, I remain committed to ensuring that entrepreneurs and small business owners have the support they need to continue shaping Main Streets across Delaware.

Paid leave is a win-win-win. It's a win for workers, it's a win for businesses, and it's a win for our economy overall.

Agriculture is the leading industry in Delaware, and the challenges that are facing the ag community today are unprecedented — with nearly every facet of the industry under pressure, from workforce shortages to environmental challenges. Durable policy solutions to the problems facing our farmers will require bipartisan and pragmatic action, and I remain committed to finding avenues to ensure the next generation can sustainably continue this proud tradition.

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege — and government has a responsibility to secure that right for everyone.  That means protecting Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act; lowering the cost of prescriptions; strengthening the healthcare workforce; and ensuring every Delawarean can get the care they need close to home. It means universal health coverage for every American.  A budget is a statement of values. I believe we should invest in families, seniors, children, people with disabilities, and the providers who care for them—not gut lifesaving care to fund tax breaks for billionaires.

Congressional Republicans have made no effort to implement the commonsense, lifesaving reforms to ICE & CBP that my colleagues and I have demanded. Instead, the House passed a bill to cut another $70 billion blank check to DHS that is both dangerous and unnecessary. Why am I not surprised?

It was wonderful to join the Building & Construction Trades Council for their annual Banquet in Newark to celebrate graduates and current participants in registered apprenticeship programs. Apprenticeships in construction trades help provide pathways to good-paying union jobs, and I was grateful for the chance to hear from attendees about how they and their families benefit from apprenticeship programs across our state.

I recently met with Lucretia Young, State Director for AARP Delaware, to discuss protecting Social Security and Medicare, supporting family caregivers, and cracking down on scams targeting older Americans. Delaware seniors and older adults have earned the right to retire with dignity, security, and peace of mind, so I will keep working to ensure they have the resources and support they need.

I enjoyed meeting with Royale Pigments and Brainerd Chemical to discuss safety in chemical distribution, products that are vital to goods and services across Delaware. When we work to make our supply chains more resilient, we can ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective handling of every product, which is vital for consumers across our state and nation.

I joined members of Delaware/New Jersey Laborers Local 199 in Newark to hear directly from workers about the challenges facing Delaware’s construction and infrastructure workforce. Strong unions mean better wages, safer worksites, stronger benefits, and real security for working families. I’ll always stand with Delaware workers and the unions that empower them.

I met with Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Collins Seitz to discuss judicial security and the importance of supporting state court systems. Courts are where people go during some of the hardest moments of their lives, and a justice system that is safe, accessible, and fair is a pillar of our democracy.

Marco Rubio and the president seem to think that Article V of the NATO alliance should only apply if the United States owns the land in question. What's worse, Rubio refused to commit to ensuring the U.S. upholds our end of the bargain.

Secretary Rubio agrees with the president that we "never got anything from NATO", even though the only time Article V has been invoked was to come to the defense of the United States after 9/11, resulting more than a thousand of lives lost by our European allies.

What started as a coordinated attempt to rewrite the rules in favor of Congressional Republicans has, predictably, resulted in a Supreme Court decision that puts in use the very map that this same court had previously deemed racially discriminatory. This is plainly wrong, a final nail in the coffin of the Voting Rights Act, and clearly seeks to disenfranchise by diminishing the power of Black voices. SCOTUS has once again proved it is willing to back-peddle its own precedent in favor of the whims of this president.

Great to have @Rep_McBride join me for a tour of @L3HarrisTech to learn about their cutting-edge optics work for missions like the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope.   Through this work, we are deepening our understanding of both our world and the universe beyond it.

In Rehoboth, I joined health care providers, advocates, and researchers for an important conversation about the health and wellbeing of Delaware’s children and families. I’m grateful to the providers who show up every day for Delaware families — and I’ll keep working to protect care, strengthen our health care workforce, and invest in the future of our neighbors.

I joined the Delaware Africa Chamber of Commerce at the Bear Library to celebrate Africa Day and recognize the strength, contributions, and leadership of Delaware’s African diaspora communities. Africa Day is a celebration of unity, independence, and shared progress—and a reminder that every community deserves to be seen, valued, and included in our future.
