Today @LAist announced the plan to eliminate 21 roles, including at least 7 unit members, amid a company-wide “restructuring,” that will reduce the newsroom by 10%.
None of us at @LAist were expecting the lay off announcement this morning. They are eliminating more than 10% of staff positions. This news comes just days after the L.A. Times made a drastic 13% cut to their newsroom.

Quite interesting Musk labeled NPR as state-affiliated media. In the strictest sense, it is true that Washington makes up 1% of funds, so Musk isn't absolutely wrong when we're looking at the letter of the definition. But I have questions!
Which in a way brings us back to NPR. Despite its hawkishness and initial reluctance to cover racial justice, its penchant for managerial politics, its general disregard for labor and other working class issues...
... NPR still does amazing work with small budget that is not pay-walled, and is of the highest journalistic standard. There are blinders, to be certain, but it is public in many senses -- there are a lot of shareholders. And in that way, it's accountable. Unlike Twitter and Musk
