The Republican Movement held the annual Wolfe Tone Commemoration on Sunday 14th June. The commemoration was attended by young and old alike. Among those present, one attendee marked her 82nd year at Bodenstown, having attended every year since the age of six, while another marked her 55th, having first attended in 1971. For many, it was their first time, and we hope to welcome them back again next year along with more first timers and others who may not have attended in recent years. The commemoration was chaired by Uachtarán Sinn Féin Poblachtach Seosamh Ó Maoileoin. A wreath was laid by Seán Whitson (Dublin) on behalf of the Republican Movement. Liam Ó Culbáird spoke on behalf of the National Graves Association. Liam gave a great speech and highlighted the enormous amount of work carried out by the NGA across the country, all on a voluntary basis and funded through donations and fundraising as the NGA do not accept any state funding. The main oration was delivered by veteran Fermanagh Republican John Joe McCusker. A fantastic oration as usual from John Joe. Special mention must go to the young piper whose playing was a highlight of the day and a reminder of the importance of carrying on our traditions. Well done also to the colour party and to all those who helped organise the commemoration.

Remembering with pride on the 13th anniversary of his death, Óglach Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, former Chief of Staff of the IRA & President of Sinn Féin Poblachtach. 2026 also marks 40 years since the 1986 Ard Fheis, where Ruairí stood firm in defence of the Revolutionary Republican Constitution and led the reorganisation of Sinn Féin, maintaining direct and unbroken continuity with the Sinn Féin founded in 1905. Upholding the sovereignty of the All-Ireland Republic proclaimed in 1916, he refused to accept the legitimisation of the British imposed partitionist parliament of Leinster House. His speech that day was a warning to delegates that the Adams/McGuinness leadership would lead the movement down a road of treachery and away from the Irish Republic. Forty years on, with Provisional Sinn Féin implementing and supporting British rule in the occupied six counties, we are further from freedom than we were in 1986, every word he spoke has been proven right. Today we remember with pride Óglach Francis Hughes who died on Hunger Strike 45 years ago. Francis was the second hunger striker to die, eight more would follow him including his cousin Thomas McElwee "I have no prouder boast than to say I am Irish and have been privileged to fight for the Irish people and for Ireland. If I have a duty I will perform it to the full with the unshakeable belief that we are a noble race and that chains and bonds have no part in us"

Sinn Féin Poblachtach Ciarraí held the annual Gortaglanna Commemoration today, marking the 105th anniversary of the murder of three unarmed IRA Volunteers, Jerry Lyons, Paddy Walsh and Paddy Dalton by the Black and Tans on the 12th May 1921. The main oration was delivered by Seán Scott Leas-Uachtarán Sinn Féin Poblachtach. The three Volunteers, along with Con Dee, were stopped on their way home from Mass by a Black and Tan patrol near Gortaglanna, Knockanure, North Kerry. They were unarmed, carrying nothing but their rosary beads. The Tans beat them and marched them into a nearby field, where they were lined up and executed. Con Dee made a desperate run for his life and, despite being shot in the leg, managed to escape. Sinn Féin Poblachtach remembers them with pride. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach Corcaigh laid a wreath at the grave of Óglach Tony Ahern this morning. Óglach Tony Ahern died in action at Roslea, Co. Fermanagh on the 10th May 1973 following a premature explosion. Tony was only seventeen years of age at the time. He was the first volunteer from the Twenty-Six County State to die on active service in the Occupied Six-Counties during this phase of the campaign. Always remembered with pride. I ndíl Chuimhne

A wreath was laid at the grave of Óglach Seán McCartney on his 105th anniversary. Volunteer of D Company, 1st Battalion, Belfast Brigade. Killed on active service 8th May 1921 aged 23 years. One of 12 volunteers of the Belfast Brigade Flying Column who established HQ in the Lapinduff mountains with the 3rd Northern Division and 3rd County Cavan Brigade. They were outnumbered by 300 to 400 British army and auxilieries when Seán was shot and died of his wounds. His body was subsequently mutilated by the Black and Tans, his ankles and feet tied to a crossley tender and dragged across the mountains to instill fear in the local Co Cavan community. He is buried at the Harbinson Plot where he is interred alongside Joe McKelvey.

POSTPONED The Liam Lynch Commemoration that was due to take place tomorrow has been postponed due to the ongoing fuel crisis. It will be rescheduled for April 26th, full details to follow.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach sends solidarity greeting to those partaking in the large protests against rising fuel costs across the Twenty-Six Counties. The protests are being led mainly by farmers, hauliers and others deeply affected by the rising costs of fuel. They have asked the Free State Government to speak with them, but have been ignored. Because of this they have decided to blockade major roads as well as Ireland’s only oil refinery in Cork. As this is written, the Free State has begun deploying its Public Order Unit to Whitegate Refinery in Cork and Dublin City Centre, which it no doubt intends to use to break up the protests. Irish republicans know all too well, the only way the establishment listens is by action, otherwise they will concede only as much as suits them. Rising costs are having a devastating impact on working people and families across Ireland, many of whom have already been under immense pressure from increased cost of living the past few years. Around half the price of petrol and diesel at the pump is made up of excise duty, carbon tax and VAT. The Free State charges one of the highest tax levels in the world on fuel, squeezing the working people while the state collects billions in tax revenue. There was a recent minor reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel but, without a hard cap on prices, energy and fuel companies will simply raise their prices and profiteer from these tax reductions. The Irish people are seeing little to no benefit while large energy companies see record breaking profits. What is needed is a reduction in fuel taxes across the board, combined with a price cap to prevent profiteering, yet the Free State Government has shown no willingness to act. The current situation is no doubt stressful to people, especially to those travelling to hospital appointments, funerals or their holidays. We hope especially for their sake, it is resolved shortly.
