The UK’s scientific and technological pipeline relies on young people who can think critically, solve problems and create new knowledge. We have a huge untapped pool of potential in the UK, and an innovative curriculum that embeds real-world research would play a powerful role.

Last year, Dover Grammar School for Girls produced a range of esters, using alternatives to traditional catalysts. Normally sweet-smelling, these are produced when alcohol reacts with carboxylic acid. This year they’re looking into this further to make them even more sustainable.
