Prof. dr. Amon Murwira met with Germany's Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Johann Wadephul, in New York this afternoon.
The two Ministers reaffirmed the strong and enduring relations between the two countries, established in 1980, and welcomed the continued growth of bilateral cooperation.
The two countries are seeking each otherโs support in the upcoming United Nations Security Council elections, which are scheduled to take place on 3 June 2026.
Prof. Murwira expressed Zimbabwe's appreciation for Germany's constructive engagement with Africa and its support in key areas, including development cooperation, humanitarian assistance, climate action, water and sanitation, food security, and disaster recovery.
The discussions further highlighted the positive trajectory of economic relations, particularly the increase in Zimbabwean exports to the German market, including tobacco, ferro-alloys, citrus fruits, berries, and other horticultural products.
Zimbabwe remains committed to strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships, expanding trade and investment opportunities, and advancing cooperation on regional and global issues through dialogue, respect, and shared prosperity.
