Hello. While discussing possible ways for the character to interact with the world, we came to the conclusion that interactions with the environment should be clearly highlighted. We really like how developers of many simulation games with a similar theme have defined the way a character interacts with the world. For example, how a character picks up an item and adds it to their inventory. Some games use a mechanic where an item disappears as soon as it touches the character and is automatically added to the inventory. Other games require the player to click on the item with the mouse cursor. However, we decided to explore an option where the character physically picks up the item and performs a “hold item above head” animation. In cozy games, this mechanic has already become familiar and intuitive: The player sees an item -> the player approaches it -> the item becomes highlighted -> the player presses the interaction button -> the animation plays. When the character holds an item above their head, it clearly shows and confirms exactly which item has just been picked up and added to the inventory. It is simple and functional. Most importantly, it is easy for players to understand. That is why we chose this method as our primary way of adding items to the inventory (we will show it in more detail later). In “Revived House,” there is an important element that serves many functions - the “Pip Game” console. The first function of this console is navigation. For example, you can use the console as a mini map to navigate the world. All of your contacts (NPCs) and their descriptions are also stored in the console’s database. Missions and objectives are displayed in a separate tab within the console as well (they will also be duplicated in your journal). The second function is story related. The console acts as a central hub for interactions between the player character and certain NPCs. You will be able to upgrade the console, expand its library of apps and games, and customize its appearance. The console is a device owned by almost every teenager in the world of “Revived House,” and that shared connection brings them together. The third function is nostalgic. We really want the game to include more objects and environmental details inspired by real life. Many of us had something in childhood that belonged only to us and reflected our personality and character. One of those things is our “Pip Game” console. Hello. We continue sharing more about the “Revived House” project. 🏡 One of the main driving elements of the game’s story is interaction with the world. According to our vision, you can interact with every object in the game and with every character. And of course, interactions with characters include dialogues. The dialogue system in the game is quite complex. We are moving toward adding more choice variety, especially so that dialogue choices can have different effects on what happens in the game. Of course, these choices should not lead to critical changes. Otherwise, every player would end up with completely unpredictable results. Although… that could be fun. 😁 Overall, a lot of time is currently being spent on improving interactions between the player and NPCs. 🌱
