Owners of an historic church near Dumfries, who removed two medieval bells from its tower without necessary planning permission, are still refusing to return them despite losing their appeal to Scottish Government and being served an enforcement notice. 👇

Well it will be no surprise that @LizzieSwarbrick was utterly superb and fascinating this morning. Lovely to meet @RevivingTrinity and @TonyJonesQCWS. Deep gratitude to @SChurchesTrust for organising
In preparation for Dr @LizzieSwarbrick's talk next week on the history of Edinburgh's Trinity Apse, we've been looking at the now lost Trinity College Church that opened its Jeffrey Street doors in 1877.
It's in the background of one of our director's magic lantern slides (1/10)
A HUGE thank you to Dr @LizzieSwarbrick for her wonderful tour of Edinburgh's medieval Trinity Apse today.
Thanks also to @RevivingTrinity for arranging access and to the lovely group of folks who came along and asked so many insightful questions about this remarkable building!
More of our events - here part of celebrating Edinburgh’s 900 anniversary! Look out for our very own @LizzieSwarbrick and Jill Harrison (not on Twitter) in the programme.
This is a rarely open amazing medieval building with a fascinating history. Please do sign up as a friend of Scotland’s Churches Trust (or donate a tenner) and I’ll show you around!
One of our fabulous Trustees, Dr @LizzieSwarbrick, has managed to secure us an exclusive visit next week to the Trinity Apse, Edinburgh's hidden medieval gem.
She's providing a tour and talk for 20 folk (free to SCT Friends/£10 others).

A little bit wobbly after up close viewing #GallowayHoard rock crystal jar, a touchstone & gold aestels pre-900 @NtlMuseumsScot. Hard to believe how intricately beautiful. Mind boggling this came out of the ground just 7 years ago, conserved & ready to go nms.ac.uk/explore-our-collec…
One of the other Scottish St Georges is on our very own altarpiece! We’ll have brand new research on it as part of our forthcoming book on Trinity church.
It’s #StGeorgesDay so here’s a beautiful image of the saint (along with the instruments of the Passion and a great beasty border) on the blind-stamped binding of a 16thC missal made for St Nicholas’, Aberdeen. Now in @uoacollections
We can’t let #StGeorgesDay go by without sharing our own image of the saint accompanying Queen Margaret of Denmark in Hugo van der Goes’ spectacular altarpiece made for Trinity. He is so delicious, right down to his decorative chainmail.
Trinity had an altar dedicated to him too!
Another piece of writing sent off today - but the first one where I’m a co-editor.
This one is a VERY FULL architectural and art historical analysis of Trinity, Edinburgh. She’s such a beauty but I’m done with her for this weekend at least. @RevivingTrinity
It was a great pleasure to talk to the Old Edinburgh Club this evening - what a lovely and engaged audience! I hope to take you all to Trinity soon. @RevivingTrinity
Further details of our January talk with @LizzieSwarbrick. Jill Harrison will also introduce the Trinity Network’s Project, Reviving the Trinity Stones, which the Old Edinburgh Club is supporting through the Jean Guild Grants programme.#edinburghhistoryoldedinburghclub.org.uk
Have you heard about “The More Taubronar” before? 🥁
This #BlackHistoryMonth, Virginie Chaverot from @LivingHistorySc tells the fascinating story of the drummer of African ancestry at the court of James IV on our blog. 👇
