Lrt And be softened down after seeing Meryl cry because he knew she only wanted to help him. IMO Vash dealing with people the hard way is not very effective nor helpful to them, it doesn't suit his personality

So about the coin case Legato gave Vash

Legato's coin case is combined with a tape recorder and magnetic field generator. The coins are Morgan silver dollar, which I guess he got from Knives or Conrad or someone from a SEEDS ship, or he collects antiques

The cap for the buttons should be splittable too. Also, since it's only activated after all coins are collected, I guess the mechanism of its activation is pressure based, with coins fitting and pressing down the sensors under the coin spaces

Vash could have use coins with similar sizes to fill it and test what will happen, or bring it to a technician to check what it's about before deciding what to do with it
