Wednesday's Heroes of the Match were Arianna Sun and Sofia Hennessey. Sofia and Arianna co‑founded NoVasta, a student‑led organization fighting food waste and food insecurity. They partner with restaurants to donate excess food to local shelters and kitchens. What began as a Boston Latin School club has grown nationwide, providing over 20,000 meals that would have otherwise gone to waste. NoVasta also works with the Boston City Council and leaders across the country to advocate for stronger solutions to food waste and hunger. Saturday’s Hero of the Match was Harold Skelton. Harold is the Founder and Director of Fishing for the Mission 22, a Buzzards Bay–based nonprofit using fishing to support veterans, active‑duty service members, and first responders. The organization raises awareness for the 22 veterans lost to suicide each day and provides therapeutic outings, a community resource center, vocational marine scholarships, peer support, behavioral health services, and over $80,000 in hardship grants. Fishing for the Mission 22 has now expanded from Massachusetts to South Carolina and Virginia, helping even more heroes find healing and connection. Saturday’s Hero of the Match was Nell Valle. Nell is a Chinese American illustrator based in Boston who shares her culture through comics and public art. This season, Nell teamed up with the New England Revolution to design the 2026 AAPI Scarf. Her design features meaningful elements such as a lotus flower, clouds, water, and the sun. Nell also created a special poster for AAPI Night featuring Slyde. The scarf is available now at the Pro Shop and in-stadium merchandise locations. Saturday's Heroes of the Match, representing A Shot for Life, were Delaney Barber and Sam Lawrence. A Shot for Life is a sports‑based cancer research organization that has raised millions for innovative trials at Massachusetts General Hospital. This year, Delaney and Sam were the top fundraisers among all ASFL soccer players across New England, combining to raise almost $20,000 for the MGH Cancer Center. Delaney is a goalkeeper for Milford High School and FC Stars ECNL, and Sam is a center back for Belmont Hill who will play at Babson College. Jordan is a 50‑year Boston broadcasting veteran whose work on WRKO, WSSH‑FM, and WBZ NewsRadio 1030 has informed, entertained, and supported our community. Throughout his career, he has championed countless charities, including Boston Children’s Hospital, the American Cancer Society, Voices of Hope, and Upstage Lung Cancer. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2023, Jordan became one of the American Parkinson Disease Association’s most dedicated fundraisers—raising over $20,000 last year to support programs for those living with Parkinson’s.
