Writer, academic, cat maman. Asst. prof at @TilburgLaw and Faculty @IGLP_HarvardLaw. International law, theory, expertise, management. Always trying to write.
The webpage for our 'Managers of Crisis' project is now up! The project looks at areas of global health, plastics and biodiversity to see how new styles of international legal expertise may be emerging. Check it out! tilburguniversity.edu/about/…
Another post is now up on my 'International legal craft' Substack - this time thinking, perhaps circuitously, about circles and cycles in international legal thought:

After some humming and hahing, I set up a Substack. Will be writing about intl law, the field, writing, teaching, the university, and more. Subscribe/share if you're interested (or, as I still am, mildly amused): intlegalcraft.substack.com/
Why, you ask? The constraints of academic writing, the publishing racket, and for a different - better? - scholarly community: intlegalcraft.substack.com/p…
Excited to have my work published in this new book series. Many thanks to @nadialambek and @RiClements for their outstanding editing and shepherding of the project!
It was such a pleasure to chat with @clc_rsil about my new book, The Justice Factory, a few weeks ago. You can find the full 25-minute interview here: youtube.com/watch?v=lD7FipeB… (Perfect timing for the commute!) @TilburgLaw@CUP_Law
We sat down with Dr. @RiClements to discuss his book about the International Criminal Court titled 'The Justice Factory'.

Blue Security Fellow @alexpdelacruz writes in @LowyInstitute on the stalled international plastic treaty negotiations in South Korea. The ambitions of Philippine & Australian plastic law & policy shouldn't be held back by deadlocked treaty negotiations.

With an editorial against impact and a symposium on global south methodologies in international law, issue 37.4 of LJIL is a real treat before the holidays! @LJIL_Leiden@CUP_Law
Only **one week** left to send your abstract for the International Legal Work(shop): Compositions and Performances of Global Governance, happening at @TilburgLaw in June 2025. For further details on submission and themes, see the extended cfp here: drive.google.com/file/d/10Kp…
Like the ad hoc Tribunals, I will now be gradually phasing out of X (let's hope it doesn't take me as long as it took them). Let's reconvene on Bluesky at riclements.bsky.social
‘Onze toekomst is niet te koop!’ Zo’n 250 studenten en medewerkers vormden vanmiddag een krachtige proteststoet op de campus van Tilburg University. #TilburgUuniversonline.nl/nieuws/2024…
A planned peaceful protest by university staff and students against government cuts due to take place tomorrow in Utrecht has been cancelled on the grounds that the city is afraid of potential 'pro-Palestinian demonstrations' that may turn violent.
Not only is this a clear attack on academic freedom and the right to peaceful protest, but it also undermines solidarity between the two causes. Suppressing those who oppose genocide is now being used as cover to suppress any voices critical of the new Dutch govt. Disgraceful.
It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.
While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change.
And they’re right.
