Hello, old friends. I don't use twitter anymore, just popping on to let you in on some big news.

(If you're a fellow dev, please consider coming over to Mastodon. It's such a nice place. Link in bio.)

I quit twitter because, well, reasons.
But I do miss the interaction with genuine people, talking about games, code, art, getting inspired. So I joined Mastodon. I hope to see you there.

Cleaned the computer for the first time in at least 4 years today. There were spider webs 🕸️ And I didn't accidentally knock off the giant cpu cooler, so that was a success.
Here's Factory Magnate, a relaxed and objective-based factory game with a manageable learning curve, meant for short runs of a couple of hours each. In this game you'll
✅complete objectives and gain xp
👑rank up and acquire perks
🔓unlock new content as you progress

Raise your hand if you're also an indie game dev who never gets any messages from composers or artists wanting to contribute to your game ✋ or, you know, just mass messaging devs, looking for paid work. I don't get any of those either🙃
Maybe I have lame Steam friends, but I never ever see anyone interacting with anyone or anything in the friend activity feed. I'm starting to believe most people don't even know it's there.
Didn't get to do any dev this week, real life work has been taking a toll on me. Taking it easy for a while. Thankfully I've learned to not feel bad about taking breaks. So, here's a screenshot from the recently updated steam page. #screenshotsaturday#indiegamedev
So a indie dev marketing company sent me an email trying to pitch their service. I replied, giving constructive feedback on how I think their pitch was bad and could be improved. Then they went defensive and basically said "we don't want to work with you anyway". 🤷♂️🤣🤦♂️
Steam's backend may be convoluted, but at least they made it super easy for developers to use the cloud feature. So, without adding any code: we have cloud saves.
Now that I have a working Steam integration, I need to figure out what stats I want to collect, and, most importantly, achievements.. it's a perfect procrastination task, taking away focus from things that I should be doing instead!
In an act of procrastination I added aircraft to the game. Just to add a little life; they serve no actual purpose.
