I’ve been called an adopted son of Scotland, something I don’t take lightly. I never thought I’d call upon its powers but if the Scots approve, might the army retweet? If Twitter can send me to the Cup, it can send one of ours home.
Lads we have a true emergency, shite. We got a mate lost his passport on the way to the game. Apologies to my brother/sister @MBTA @mbta_alerts social manager but the Wakefield bagpiper just sent me this. If Helen from Scotland can send me to the cup, we can do this. Cuz BOSTON

Thirty-eight years ago, I was a young clerk standing in a utility control room. The grid topology (the map of how power flows from generation to your home) was tracked with magnets and taped lines on a board. Operators moved them by hand when something changed. That was the state of the art. What I saw on a conference stage this week made me stop and take it in. The journey from magnetic boards to digitized SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems was the first revolution. What is coming now is categorically different. But here is what I want people to understand about how visions like this actually get built. It was not one team in a lab. It was a genuine back-and-forth β€” utility operators and IT leaders pushing GE with what we were living with in the field, and GE colleagues pushing back with what the technology could become if we were willing to demand it. That dialogue was contentious sometimes. It was always productive. Neither side had the full picture alone, and both sides knew it. Late nights, napkin sketches, arguments over cocktails, and the kind of honest conversation that only happens when both sides are invested enough to disagree. That shared stubbornness is what turned fragmented thinking into a coherent vision. β€œAI proposes. Physics decides. Operator sets the policy.” That is not a marketing line. That is the distillation of hundreds of those conversations. Well-deserved recognition to the GE colleagues and industry teammates who stayed in that dialogue long enough to see it become real. The product on that stage belongs to all of us who refused to settle for the grid we had. Thirty-eight years. Magnets to milliseconds. The vision is landing. Proud to have played a tiny part. #GridOS #GridOrchestration #GEVernova #Orchestrate2026 #GridModernization #EnergyTransition

As millions of people move around the planet to watch the World Cup I’m sending my prayers for safety to the players and crowds that attend the event. For those not attending tax and patients, packed your patience
The World Cup begins tomorrow, and many will watch the matches. Soccer reminds us of something we must not forget: life is not a race to show off on our own, but a path we learn to walk together. Anyone who does not know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, has not yet understood the game. Anyone who does not know how to live with and for others has not yet understood life. #ApostolicJourney

Good morning friends! After a hectic week at work and a nice evening, spent at home with Adrienne I fell asleep on the couch. Woke up at midnight to walk the dogs and was awoken this morning 0515 by the delightful sound of an airplane spraying for mosquitoes. Ordinarily, I’m not happy at being awoken so early, but after yesterdayβ€˜s mosquito fest, I’m happy…. Hope everyone has a restful Saturday. Stay positive, help each other, and be safe!

New statement from Scott Pelley: Β  There has never been anything in America like 60 Minutes. Β  The Sunday tradition is the most successful program of any kind in history. For more than a decade, its innovative growth on every major online platform has extended its reach to countless millions around the world. This spring, at the end of our 58thseason, 60 Minutes grew rapidly with an unheard-of 9% jump in viewers on CBS. Β  β€œ60” has been the number-one program in America for decades because our beloved audience finds integrity, quality, and humanity in our stories. When stewardship of the program passed to my colleagues and me, our responsibility was to expand energetically into a new age of media technology while preserving the values our audience expects. Now, the new owner of our network is casting this legend aside, apparently to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration. Β  The waste is heartbreaking. Β  Last month, 60 Minutes lost its DNA when our entire senior leadership and two of our best on-air correspondents were cruelly fired without cause. Good people were silenced because they stood up for our audience. They stood for fairness against the forces of political bias; they stood for professionalism against chaos. Β  For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them. Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60 Minutes interviews is not how this is done. Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all. Β  At 60 Minutes, we have fought harder than anyone knows to save the program that became an American icon. We owed that to our millions of viewers. I am deeply moved by the thousands of wishes we have received to β€œkeep up the good fight.” Most of the men and women of CBS News are still in that fight. But now the collapse of values at the top has become untenable. The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer recognizable. The principles I hold dear are gone, and so I must leave as well. Β  I depart after 37 years at CBS with one emotionβ€”a heart brimming with gratitude for the men and women of CBS News who encouraged and enriched my work, very often at the risk of their own lives. I pray for a day when those people and their ideals are honored againβ€”a day when sanity, competence, and courage return. Β  Scott Pelley

Tax rates (millage rates) set by local governments have mostly stayed steady or been rolled back in many Florida counties and cities. The ~63% statewide rise in property tax collections since 2019 (to ~$55B) and higher bills for many owners came mainly from surging home valuesβ€”not rate hikes. Homesteaded properties stay capped at ~3% annual assessed value growth. Florida’s effective rate remains relatively low nationally.
