160 years ago today, Lincoln, son Tad, and a military escort make a brief visit to Richmond, now under Union control. Slaves no more, a multitude of African-Americans greet Lincoln, some weeping with joy.

Final — Hershey 66, Chartiers Valley 50 ... Hershey closes the game on a 12-0 run and is headed to the PIAA final for the first time. Julian Semplice scored 15 points and Jayden Davis 14 for CV, which sees its terrific season come to an end.

#OTD in #history 1920, the #19Amendment was ratified, guaranteeing women’s suffrage. Harry Burn, a young #Tennessee legislator, held the deciding vote. He stated, “I knew that a mother’s advice is always safest for a boy to follow and my mother wanted me to vote for ratification”

Today in 1863, the 54th Massachusetts regiment attacked Fort Wagner in 1863. From this balcony in Boston, Col. Robert Shaw’s family watched the regiment parade through the city before leaving. Their amazing monument is nearby.

Last week while taking my daily evening walk with my dog, I found a pair of glasses by the trail . Not seeing anyone around I placed them in plain sight on a rock. Tonight I found this sign on the rock
