Love this from @Counsell_C:
Writing lesson objectives on the board at the start of a lesson is like telling the punchline of a joke, before telling the joke
Well a fabulous day at #rEDEastAnglia - thank you to @CatherineRusht2 and all the team at @ATTInstitute and of course to all those from Mildenhall Academy that gave up their time - fabulous hosting! The end of another great @researchED1! Hoping there will be a #rEDEastAnglia27!! Looking forward to actually having time to process my thoughts and ideas gathered today over the next few days :)
My final session of the day at #rEDEastAnglia was with @CatScutt considering the use of AI in education. Catt posed lots of interesting points for reflection and it sparked more questions for me to follow up through my own use and research of AI. @ATTInstitute@researchED1
My fourth session was with the fantastic @MrsBallAP from @Steplab_co looking at the importance of and strategies for scaffolding whilst avoiding lethal mutations by staying true to subject specificity in their application and in a way that doesn’t provide a ceiling - keeping ambition high for all and is gradually removed. Can highly recommend Rachel and @lamb_heart_tea book - The Scaffolding Effect (@Inner_Drive) @researchED1@ATTInstitute#rEDEastAnglia
Next up was Caroline Spencer from the fantastic @Inner_Drive looking at maximising questions and getting as many students as possible to think and participate. Reasonated with me following my recent substack posts on the importance of intellectual preparation @researchED1@ATTInstitute#edchat
#rEDEastAnglia kicked off with the amazing @Counsell_C so much to think about here in particular for me the negative impact that trying to impose a single lesson structure across subjects can have and how important narrative is. Lots of unpacking of my thoughts on this to do! A great start to the day. #rED@ATTInstitute@researchED1

My latest substack post is a personal reflection on curriculum booklets: what they can do well, what needs to sit around them, and the potential pitfalls to avoid. Booklets can support curriculum coherence, intellectual preparation, non-specialist teaching and workload — but only when used thoughtfully. open.substack.com/pub/robgeo…#geographyteacher#curriculumdesign#KS3#bookletisedcurriculum
