I don’t think the Iraola ‘hasn’t won anything’ shouts add up to any scrutiny. Firstly, ‘anything’ is only really two trophies that matter, in terms of the LFC job - the league and champions league.
Who was available that had won either of those in recent history ? Ironically, apart from our previous manager.
Iraola is very proven in the most important competition to be proven in, if you want to manage LFC - the premier league.
With a team worth at least a quarter of the current LFC team, he outpointed Liverpool by 2 points over the last 33 games of last season. By any objective measure he eclipsed the performance of Arne Slot in 25/26.
It’s not like we’re even comparing a title winner in Portugal, or Germany or even Holland, with the Slot. We’re comparing him with a man who outperformed him, given all contexts, in the same, most recent season.
And the ‘but what about his champions league experience?’ concern is a relative one. About 5 of Europe’s best sides play in the Premier League. Iraola played, and often bested those sides, in each of the past 3 seasons. In a champions league campaign you don’t play more than 5 of the best sides in Europe.
