Is the UK “flying blind” about the deployment of AI in the public sector? It is too difficult to find out what algorithms are being used, where and with what effect. Any insiders who might shed light, please do get in touch in confidence.

Best caller yet - a Grateful Dead fan in Birmingham interested in a recent story I wrote about magic mushrooms who signed off after making a generous donation with: “keep the freak flag flying!”

Devastating letter sent today to Boris Johnson from @l_covid whose father's Covid death certificate was signed on 20 May 2020. "My dad didn’t have much in his life, but he had his integrity and a sense of right and wrong...do the right thing and own up". theguardian.com/world/2022/j…

Today would normally be the Guardian charity telethon which is usually brilliant fun - and reveals our readers’ amazing generosity. It’s been cancelled this year sadly, but please do consider giving to the appeal which is still on here. Thanks theguardian.com/society/2021…

“Staff were in tears, residents were being led to awaiting vehicles, confused and scared.” How a care home shut with just a few hours notice - just one example of the crumbling of England's care system. DMs open if you have stories to tell theguardian.com/society/2021…

And now a cabinet minister, @michaelgove is weighing in in an unusual move asking for a commercial deal to be torn up
Deeply disappointed that @MercedesAMGF1 are accepting sponsorship from cladding firm Kingspan while the Grenfell Inquiry is ongoing. I will be writing to Mercedes to ask them to reconsider. The Grenfell community deserves better.

This is the Grenfell United group's response to the @KingspanIns_UK / @MercedesAMGF1 / @LewisHamilton car sponsorship deal
This news has shattered us. @KingspanIP_UK is rotten to the core 'little better than crooks & killers'. No remorse, or responsibility for the murder of our 72. Only greed & recklessness for human life. 👇Our letter to @MercedesAMGF1 urging them to cut their ties with Kingspan.
