Lol. I was just saying the chronology is:
1) gas leaks
2) @HRMFireNews posts
3) @HfxMda drives to scene, takes pictures of gas cloud, posts
4) an hour passes
5) alert goes out
Lag time between hearing about something on Twitter and getting an emergency alert about it on my phone is 60 minutes, which seems catastrophically bad.
Thank you to @kevinarts for taking the time to pose for a pic and help a student get a book signed for their principal. @FunnyPagesFest is such a great event! @hfxpublib@HRCE_NS
98 per cent of Nova Scotia teachers vote in favour of strike mandate

ALT Nova Scotia’s teachers and educational specialists have sent a resounding wake-up call to government that it can no longer continue to ignore the many crises boiling over inside our public schools.
In a province-wide electronic vote held today, 10,313 NSTU members (including substitute teachers who were eligible to vote) voted 98 per cent in favour of strike action.
“Teachers are frustrated by rapidly declining conditions inside their schools, and by Government’s lack of action to provide safe and healthy learning environments for students,” says NSTU President Ryan Lutes.
Today at Public Accounts, the Committee discussed the NSTUs written request to appear at an upcoming hearing on school violence.
Government still maintains that the NSTU should not be called as a witness at this hearing.
See exchange.
