A moment to mark the improvements at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center. The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers is proud of how the work turned out, just in time for the busy tourist season. wdio.com/front-page/top-stor…

Dangerous swimming conditions and rip currents today for the beaches of Duluth and Superior. Stay out of the high surf! If you are being pulled away from shore by a #RipCurrent, swim parallel to shore until you're out of the rip, then swim to shore. #MNwx#WIwx
ALT A graphic from the National Weather Service in Duluth, MN featuring a diagram showing how to escape a rip current along with text detailing the risk. There is a high risk of rip currents today for the beaches of Duluth and Superior, including Park Point and Wisconsin Point beaches. Dangerous waves and rip currents are expected along the shore. Swimming conditions may be life threatening to anyone entering the water. Stay out of the high surf today! Break the grip of the rip by swimming parallel to the shoreline until you are out of the rip current, then turn and swim toward shore. Repeat this action if you encounter another rip current. Know your actions: Swim at a beach with lifeguards. Never swim alone. If caught in a rip, relax, call for help, and swim along the shoreline. For more beach information visit parkpointbeach.org and for more information on rip currents visit www.ripcurrents.noaa.gov.
Congratulations to the eight new recruits for being sworn in yesterday! We're proud to have you join the City of Duluth Police Department and look forward to your future career in your chosen profession, law enforcement!
