I was largely inactive on X for two days to handle some private affairs and catch up on sleep. X Algorithm:

I'll be offline for most of the day. A water main broke last night, and my neighborhood was without running water for hours. The repairs happened right outside my house and were very loud. Thankfully I had an emergency water supply, but I'm running on just two hours of sleep. 😴

I think many people are confusing the policies of their inept politicians with the Pope’s actual statements. They get so triggered by the word “migrant” that they can’t seem to grasp what the Pope is and is not saying.
The drama of migration must serve as an appeal to the conscience of the nations of origin of the migrants, which must establish conditions for peace, justice and development. It is also an appeal to the conscience of the transit nations, which are called to protect the vulnerable and not leave them in the hands of criminal networks. It is likewise an appeal to the conscience of Europe, which cannot claim to uphold human dignity while growing accustomed to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic becoming unmarked graves, as well as that of the international community, which is called to effective and persevering cooperation. #ApostolicJourney vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Agreed. Catholics are more likely to cause scandal by “telling the Pope how it is” to their thousands of followers (many of whom might be impressionable new converts). Either way, I don’t find the Pope’s views on immigration terrible, provided one considers everything he has said on the matter as a whole. I, for one, won’t be engaging in this behavior.
It's okay to disagree with the Pope about immigration but if you're replying to one of his tweets PLEASE remember that he is the Pope and act accordingly

I'm over halfway through this debate. I try my best to stay open-minded and unbiased, but this was just brutal. Hanson had to be constantly redirected during cross-examination, which ate up a significant amount of Ethan's time. The only real “zinger” Hanson landed was getting Ethan to admit he had only read 30% of the Book of Mormon. Even that fell flat, however, because it was an ad hominem attack that failed to address the substance of Ethan’s case. Hanson’s first cross-examination was embarrassing to watch. On a side note, isn’t it odd how there always seems to be some kind of audio or connection issue whenever Mormons debate Catholics? I won’t read anything into it, but it strikes me as very strange.

Let's see how my former Lutheran church is doing. Oh, interesting! The synod elected a new "bishop". Her name is...wait... Her? Ohhhhh boy! I'm sure church attendance is up for being so inclusive, right? *loads up their latest Sunday service live feed* OHHHH BOY!

For context, this photo was taken during their service. Even for a regular Sunday, these numbers are terrible. Including those offscreen, I counted fewer than 50 people. However, it wasn’t a regular Sunday; it was the “big reveal” for the Synod election results. This is also the largest, most historic Lutheran church in the area and an anchor congregation for the ELCA. Ouch. Another depressing observation: roughly 80% of the 43 or so in attendance looked over 75 years old. This church is cooked in ten years. The local demographics have shifted to about 40% Hispanic, so most of the growing churches around here are some type of Pentecostal. Catholics have absorbed some of them too.

Receipts. 😬 In 2011, I was loosely affiliated with the Lutheran Church. At that point, I was a “lone wolf” Christian. My experiences with evangelicals and hyper-grace Pentecostals during college left a terrible mark on me for years. Still, it was nice to be honored. This simple gesture encouraged me to turn to them when I wanted my daughter baptized in 2015. Lutherans keep detailed baptismal records, so when I reverted to the Catholic Church, the process went smoothly for her.

Lions are notoriously lazy, but we only celebrate the 5% of the time when they’re fierce and courageous. So if you’re doomscrolling on the couch with your belly out, take solace! You have the spirit of a lion. You’re fierce. You’re brave. You’re beautiful!
