One of my favorite exercises for explosive training.
My favorite exercise to teach triple extension?
It’s not the clean.
It’s not the jerk.
It’s not the snatch.
It’s the reverse medicine ball throw.
Why?
Because it teaches athletes to extend violently at the ankle, knee, and hip — in a way that’s:
✔️ Safe
✔️ Effective
✔️ Efficient
No technical barriers.
No missed lifts.
No unnecessary complexity.
Just pure force production.
The reverse med ball throw allows an athlete to:
Load the hips
Drive through the ground
Finish tall at full extension
Express power without overthinking
If you can teach an athlete to project a medicine ball with full triple extension, you can transfer that same intent into the vertical jump and the broad jump.
We don’t just lift weights.
We teach movement.
Train movements, then train muscle.
