Ross County Football Club are delighted to share that our long-serving groundsman, Davie Fraser, has been recognised by ProPitch and the SPFL, earning the “Highly Commended Pitch of the Year” award in the Scottish Championship for the 2025/26 season. Ross County CEO Steven Ferguson said: “This award is no less than Davie deserves for the outstanding job he is doing at Ross County. “Knowing Davie, he wouldn't thank you much at all for the praise, but I can't state enough how grateful we all are to have had him looking after our pitch for the last 30 years. “Davie does an unbelievable job, and in all weathers makes sure our park is in top condition. "Not many could match the care, attention to detail and work ethic that Davie provides for the club. “I think it is important to note that the other three clubs picking up awards are all hybrid pitches, with teams of multiple ground staff looking after their pitch, whereas Davie is very much a team of one, working on a traditional grass playing surface. “Well done, Davie, a true club legend!” #Staggies

What a game of football. The result might show as 2-3, but that only tells part of the story. Today the girls put in a performance they should be incredibly proud of. We came up against a strong Caley side and found ourselves chasing the game after conceding a couple of early goals. But instead of letting that affect them, the girls responded brilliantly. They dug in, worked hard for each other and showed exactly what this team is all about. As the game went on, we grew stronger and stronger. The movement, the passing and the determination on display were fantastic to watch. By the closing stages we were really putting Caley under pressure and had them working hard to hold onto their lead. It made for a brilliant game and showed just how much quality there is in this squad. Our first goal came after a dangerous ball into the box from Daisy Ross caused all sorts of problems for the Caley side and eventually ended up in the back of the net. The second came from Eilidh McGarry, who buried her chance and gave us the reward our performance deserved. What was most pleasing wasn’t the goals, though. It was the attitude. The girls never stopped. They kept fighting, kept competing and kept playing football the right way. There were some excellent passages of play throughout the match and, on another day, we could easily have found ourselves with more goals to show for it. Today’s game has given us plenty to build on. We know there are areas we can improve, particularly in making the most of the chances we create and maintaining that composure on the ball, but that’s the whole point. The opportunities are there. The football is there. The effort is there. The talent is there. A huge congratulations to today’s Player of the Match, Claire McKenzie. After battling illness for a while, it was fantastic to see her back out there doing what she does best. She worked tirelessly, made a big impact on the game and thoroughly deserved her award. We’re delighted to have her back in the squad and hopefully we’ll see plenty more performances like that in the weeks ahead. Sometimes games we play give us a result. Sometimes it gives you a reminder of how much progress the girls are making, and today was definitely the latter. Every single player should leave that pitch proud of what they produced today. Keep working, keep believing and keep playing with that same energy and determination. We’re incredibly proud of you all. #Staggies
