Olivia Watkins has been named the new head coach @FIUSoftball. Watkins spent the past four years on the coaching staff @DukeSOFTBALL. During her time on staff the program made a run of four-straight NCAA Postseason appearances, while advancing to the WCWS in 2024. #Rounding3rdSB

Alisa Goler has stepped down as head coach @WIUSoftball to join the coaching staff @TXStateSoftball. Goler coached the Leathernecks for six seasons. She now joins the Bobcats to lead the offense as the squads hitting coach. #Rounding3rdSB

Erin Thorpe is retiring as head coach at @ucdavissoftball. Thorpe led the Aggies for 12 seasons and is the program’s all-time winningest coach with 273 victories. She also guided programs at Boise State and Whittier College during her career amassing 496 wins. #Rounding3rdSB

Dani Price has been named the new head coach at UT Tyler. Price joins @Patriot_sb after working on staff @BaylorSoftball as Director of Operations since 2021. It was her second stint with the Bears after serving as an assistant coach from 2014-2017. #Rounding3rdSB

Price also worked on staff at Georgia Southern and her alma mater McNeese State. She follows Jason Miller who took over as interim coach in 2026 for Hall of Fame Coach Mike Reed. @Patriot_sb finished this past season 42-14.

RTS is saddened to report the passing of former longtime University of Arizona assistant coach Larry Ray.
Ray was best known for bringing the slap game into the mainstream in the 1990’s as the top aid to Head Coach Mike Candrea @ArizonaSoftball.

The “Slash and Dash” Offense would win @ArizonaSoftball National Championships in 1991, 1993, and 1994. Ray would leave the Wildcats in 1996 to start the program at the University of Florida where he spent four seasons guiding @GatorsSB.

Ray would return to @ArizonaSoftball in 2002, and lead the program in 2004 and 2008 when Head Coach Mike Candrea took leave to coach the U.S. Olympic Team. The Wildcats would win two more National Titles in 2006 and 2007 in Ray’s second stint.
