Happy 65th, Boy George! 🎢 What's one of your favorite Culture Club or Boy George solo songs? 🎢 Born George Alan O'Dowd, on June 14, 1961, a singer, songwriter, DJ, and author, he formed the new wave band, Culture Club with Roy Hay, Mikey Craig, and Jon Moss in 1981. During their decades long career, Culture Club has released 6 studio albums, and as a soloist, George has released 9 studio albums. Culture Club's 1982 debut album, Kissing to Be Clever, was the 1st debut album to have three Top 10 hits in the US since the Beatles. Released in 1983, the song "Time (Clock of the Heart)" is included on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of 500 songs that shaped rock and roll. In 2015, George was awarded the Ivor Novello Award for his outstanding contribution to British music.

What's one of your favorite Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show/Dr. Hook songs? 🎢 Remembering Dennis Locorriere, the lead singer, guitarist, and a founding member of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show who was born in Jersey City, NJ, on June 13, 1949. An accomplished songwriter, his songs have been recorded by Bob Dylan, BJ Thomas, Helen Reddy, Willie Nelson, and more. In the 1970s, Dr. Hook saw commercial success with hit singles "Sylvia's Mother," "The Cover of Rolling Stone," "Only Sixteen," and more. Dr. Hook also achieved #1 chart status in more than 42 countries during the 70s. We lost Locorriere to kidney disease a month ago on May 16, 2026.
