My ideas and a rough draft I am working on for a intro scene
Water Slides
FADE IN:
EXT. OCEAN CLIFF – DAY
A vast stretch of the Pacific Ocean reaches endlessly toward the horizon.
Standing at the edge of a cliff is a MAN (30s).
The camera frames him from behind in a MEDIUM CLOSE-UP. He stands motionless, staring out at the ocean below.
Silence.
Then—
The distant sound of PEOPLE TALKING.
A CAR DOOR SLAMS.
Footsteps.
Laughter.
The camera slowly begins to PAN around him at torso level.
As it moves, the sounds grow louder.
More voices.
More footsteps.
More chatter.
The world seems to be gathering around him.
The camera continues its slow arc.
The noise intensifies.
The voices overlap.
The sounds become overwhelming.
Until—
The camera lands on the FRONT OF HIS FACE.
A CLOSE-UP.
The noise reaches its peak.
Then suddenly—
It fades.
Voice by voice.
Sound by sound.
Until only the ocean remains.
The camera slowly pushes closer.
A TIGHT CLOSE-UP on his eyes.
Still.
Unblinking.
The roar of the ocean grows louder and louder.
The world around him disappears.
Only the ocean remains.
A long beat.
The camera slowly pulls back.
MEDIUM WIDE.
The man takes a step forward.
Then another.
And another.
CUT TO:
EXT. ROCKY SHORELINE – CONTINUOUS
The man walks toward the water.
The waves crash against the rocks.
He never hesitates.
Never breaks stride.
He enters the ocean.
Water reaches his knees.
His waist.
His chest.
His shoulders.
He continues forward.
Until he disappears beneath the surface.
Everything goes silent.
Absolute silence.
UNDERWATER BLACK.
No sound.
No image.
Nothing.
Then—
A CHILD’S SCREAM pierces the darkness.
A little boy, screaming at the top of his lungs.
CUT TO:
EXT. BEACH – DAY
A YOUNG BOY runs frantically toward his MOTHER.
The camera rushes toward them.
The boy reaches her.
She kneels and wraps her arms around him.
MOTHER
Everything will be fine.
The screen cuts to black.
BLACK SCREEN.
Silence.
Then—
The distant hum of a car engine.
CUT TO:
INT. MOVING CAR – DAY
The same man.
The same eyes.
A MATCH CUT.
The camera holds on a CLOSE-UP of his face from nearly the same angle.
He stares forward.
Unblinking.
Still.
Outside the window, the coastline rolls by.
Music slowly builds.
Louder.
And louder.
Yet the man remains motionless.
Lost somewhere beyond the moment.
The ocean flashes between stretches of road.
Then—
A familiar roadside sign appears ahead.
The man’s eyes never move.
The music swells.
CUT TO BLACK.
