Dr. Rashmitha recently shared one of the most heartbreaking experiences from her medical practice 😞😞
A 14 year old girl was admitted to the hospital for delivery. She gave birth to a premature baby at eight months. After the delivery, the doctor gently asked why she had not sought medical help or considered an abortion during those eight months. The young girl remained silent.
Every two hours, she had to feed her newborn. At one point, she innocently asked the doctor, How do I hold my baby properly…? The medical team was left speechless. Moments later, that same child was seen watching animated videos on a phone, a painful reminder that she herself was still just a child.
Since she is a minor, a legal case was registered. But the harsh reality is that, in many such situations, families are pressured to withdraw the case. Eventually, the girl may be forced to marry the very person accused of assaulting her.
Society may call this “JUSTICE” because the victim is married, but for that innocent girl, the trauma does not end. Instead, she may be condemned to live with the consequences of abuse for the rest of her life.
The saddest part is that while society moves on, very few stop to ask whether the child herself ever received true justice.
