Kiwifruit originates from China, where it grew as a wild vine called yang tao and was later known as Chinese gooseberry... It was cultivated for centuries before seeds were brought to New Zealand in 1904 by Isabel Fraser. New Zealand growers then selectively bred it for size, taste, and commercial use, turning it into a major export crop. In the mid 20th century, it was renamed kiwifruit after New Zealand’s kiwi bird to improve international marketing. This helped establish New Zealand as the global face of the fruit, even though its origin is Chinese. #drthehistories

NZ has its problems, but 1/had a hernia repair operation this morning, released same day 2/ Hernia was a side effect of an op in 2024 to cut out some cancer that chemo hadn't got Great medical people everywhere, brilliant facilities at 3 x hospitals Cost to me $0 NZ Health ❤️

#WorldTheatreDay 🎭 The Theatre at Pergamon (Türkiye) is just plain scary. It dates back to the Greek era of the city , approx 225 BCE. It's built on the side of the hill and very steep. The modern town of Bergama is in the background. My Pic, taken May 2024
