ok but wtf was the point of this scene??

I liked Disclosure Day but I think the reason is because Shyamalan deals in character while Spielberg deals in tropes. In the moment, i did care about Josh O’Conner and Eve Hewson’s relationship but looking back, could you name anything about the actual reason they’re in love?
trying to unpack why I love it when Shyamalan goes earnest corny hopecore and rejected it when Spielberg did it

One thing The Furious has that made me love it is goons who realize the guy they’re fighting is a badass. There’s multiple times when a guy will rush in to fight, then see just how many dudes the mc has beaten up and just goes “fuck that, I ain’t fighting him.”

I used to do standup with some friends back in the day and one night a guy in the crowd said “you’re really funny! You kinda remind me of this one guy. You ever heard of Tony Hinchcliffe?” And I have never been more insulted in my life.
This video is all you need to know about this fucking guy

My favorite part of reality tv is when someone goes “I never said that” and then they play a compilation of every time the did in fact say that.

“Yeah I think the Kents made Superman a good person. How could you tell?”
Replying to @shin_kale_rider
The whole point of Superman's backstory is that he is an alien who is taught how to be a kind, compassionate person by the Kents. If you were strange and threatening as an adult then the Kents would have failed him

Unnecessary prequels

Really funny that anyone thought this wouldn’t happen. Studios don’t like doing new things. They like getting a hit and then pimping that hit until it’s worn out completely. And they will do this with or without any of the original crew too.

This is even funnier having seen the movie because the most radical statement this movie makes on gender is “well obviously as men we don’t WANT to use our strength to enforce our will on everyone else but sometimes the world MAKES us do that.”
So, I’m guessing Travis Knight was a fan of Jane Schoenbrun’s “I Saw the TV Glow.” #MastersOfTheUniverse is a delight. Just a joy from beginning to end about being the man you choose to be.

“This movie is actually about gender roles. Specifically male gender roles. “Women? Ehh, I’m sure they’re fine. Don’t need to focus on them really.”

Teela gets a bit of momentum in the first half along with some love interest scenes and then there’s a scene in the middle where she makes it VERY clear that she just sees Adam as a friend/brother and suddenly she becomes yet another face in the crowd.
