I liked Disclosure Day but I think the reason is because Shyamalan deals in character while Spielberg deals in tropes. In the moment, i did care about Josh O’Conner and Eve Hewson’s relationship but looking back, could you name anything about the actual reason they’re in love?

One thing The Furious has that made me love it is goons who realize the guy they’re fighting is a badass.
There’s multiple times when a guy will rush in to fight, then see just how many dudes the mc has beaten up and just goes “fuck that, I ain’t fighting him.”

Teela gets a bit of momentum in the first half along with some love interest scenes and then there’s a scene in the middle where she makes it VERY clear that she just sees Adam as a friend/brother and suddenly she becomes yet another face in the crowd.
